The key to getting a beautiful home for less is where you shop. Consignment stores, outlets and even grocery superstores are loaded with bargains that can turn your house into a showcase. Add in a few personal details with treasured heirlooms, artwork or flea market finds and you can get the designer look you want, for less.
CONSIGNMENT STORES
If you think that consignment stores of just full of junk then think again! While there may be some junky ones, there are plenty of high end stores where you can find excellent quality items for pennies on the dollar. Furniture, knickknacks, artwork - you name and you can get it for less at these stores. Don’t worry that they will be all dented and banged up, most consignment stores have strict guidelines and will not accept any damaged goods.
OUTLETS
Take a trip to the outlet stores in your area, even if you have to travel a bit it could be worth your while. You can get brand name good at 50% or more.
Outlets are great places to get accessories like vases, picture frames, pillows and linens. Those little things that make a house a home. You’d be surprised at how dressing up your place with these little accents can make even the most critical quests forget about your no name furniture.
Other outlets offer genuine, designer furnishings at huge discounts because they are from a discontinued line or were floor models. You might be surprised what you can afford at these outlets.
DISCOUNT STORES
You’re probably picturing cheap ready to assemble furniture made from cardboard when you think “discount store”, but believe me, this type of furniture has come a long way.
Consumer demand has created a market for high quality furnishings with lower costs. Manufacturers have started to use better materials and give their furniture a customized look that is in keeping with the latest trends. You can get ready to assemble furniture that are practically as good quality and look just as nice as the expensive stuff, but for much less.

GROCERY STORES/ DIY STORES
These days even the grocery store may have a line of furniture that fits your décor. Next time you pop in for some milk, don’t forget to look for that perfect kitchen set in aisle 3!
