How I met and married my Ukraine Dream Wife.
(A Mail Order Bride)

I’m a 53 year old American Man married to a 30 year old model from the Ukraine. She is absolutely gorgeous and I’m not. Throughout my story I will provide links to the website where I met my wife. If you would like I'll be glad to provide advise or help you also meet the woman of your dreams. No hype no gimmicks I want you to be as happy as I am. You see, my wife, Anna, is college educated, hard working, bright and a 12 on a scale of 1-10 in beauty. I have, previously, been married and divorced three times. Until I was married the fourth time I considered my three prior divorces a badge of disgrace. I was ashamed to admit that I was a failure at marriage. I had resigned myself to being alone and it depressed me. But I now realize I was looking for love in all the wrong places. The USA.

Here is my story.

Just before I got married to my third wife I was corresponding to a mail order bride from Brazil and decided to dump her for the American girl that sat across from me at work. After all what could I have in common with a mail order bride as opposed to someone raised in the same country. I emailed my foreign fiancée and broke off the engagement. Soon as I did I felt terrible. I should have heeded my feelings. Four years later and thousands of arguments I came home and my American wife was in bed with another man. My marriage had been a living nightmare. I would have paid anything to get out of that marriage and I did. It cost me over $200,000 USD to end it despite having no children together. But I gratefully paid that sum to get free from the albatross.

My sisters all argued that I should give up on marriage. That after one American woman that cheated on me and another that left me (soon as my income went down) it was obvious that marriage and I were far apart on values and ideals. I even had a psychologist suggest that it was my fault because I picked a gold digger and a whore as wives. At the time I was so down trotten I began to think that maybe he was right.


However, two years later lonely and wanting female companionship I found myself surfing the net. First, just looking at Yahoo Personal but not willing to contact an American woman after my last two experiences. Then I found this site http://loveme.com which had foreign brides complete with pictures and profiles. Originally, it was just a fantasy as I clicked on profiles and selected beautiful ladies to add to my favorites. I never wrote anyone and another year slipped by.


Finally, I had wasted three years and was still a single guy avoiding American women but afraid to take that step towards a foreign mail order bride. I sent an email. Originally, I emailed a South American lady and got back a very nice return email stating she was corresponding with several men and believed she had found her life partner and would not be corresponding further. Then I emailed a lady from Cartenga Columbia and got back an email stating she had read my letter and reviewed my profile and wasn’t interested. I didn’t understand.

How was it that a supposedly rich American was being turned down by a mail order bride? Weren't they suppose to be lined up just craving an American Man so they could get in the USA? I must be much uglier than I thought? It would be several months latter before I would understand that most mail order brides don’t care if you have a million dollars or you are as poor as a church mouse. They aren’t after your money but after love and marriage. Most foreign mail order brides (that I have dealt with) are raised in a culture where marriage and family are still an important part of their society. Their satisfaction in life does not come from a big paycheck or your college education or closing a huge marketing deal or any other materialistic value. Rather these ladies get their happiness from coming home to a loving husband and a happy family. Shocked? So was I. I had this stereotype idea of foreign mail order brides being gold diggers wanting to take my money (both nickels) or women just wanting to come to the USA to get citizenship. (However, like there are spammers selling College Degrees and Miracle Drugs on the Internet there are scammers in this area also. I continued my search looking for a foreign mail order bride. I spent hours looking at pictures of mail order bride women from Columbia, Philippines, China, Russia and the Ukraine. Originally, it started with my desire to have someone to talk to and knowing that most American women wanted to spend less time talking and more time spending. Foreign women provided a since of security because they couldn’t get at my wallet or put me in a situation where I was emotionally committed to them. However, as time went on I begin to re-think my ideas about mail order brides. Not one Mail Order Bride had ask me for anything and if I insinuated that I really wanted to get married and live in their country they were fine with that also. Maybe a Mail Order Bride was just what I needed?

I began to rethink my ideas about marriage. Maybe the problem with marriage was not the institution itself but the ideas American women brought to the marriage.
After all, 100 years ago American women would cross the plains to be with a cowboy or sod buster that had written them through a newspaper. These original mail order brides came west and successfully married many men for a life that was anything but glamorous and the women stayed. Eastern European and Orient countries had been doing arranged marriages for centuries with a very low divorce rate. Something had gone wrong in America. Somewhere women decided that marriage was about men taking care of women instead of women taking care of the marriage. When did the American male give up his mo jo so that we had become slaves to our own American Dream? But I digress from the story of my mail order bride.


What I decided was one of my marriages failed because she had a personality disorder (bi-polar) and that defect drove her to sleep with anyone with a penis. Another of my relationship failed because I was simply a paycheck and when I lost my company my wife started scouting for greener pastures (literally greener as in the color of money) and both these problems could be guarded against with a pre-nuptial agreement and a MMPI test. So I set in play my plan to find a mail order bride. One that would be willing to take the MMPI and sign a pre-nuptial agreement. Several things followed;

At first I sorted through all the beautiful women on http://loveme.com and identified probably 35 mail order brides from Philippines, Columbia, Russia and the Ukraine. I picked these women because of their reputations of standing by their men no matter what happens. I figured that if she was 20-35 and I was 50 that there was a real chance that I not only needed a wife but in 25 years someone to watch me so I didn’t fall in the bathtub or trip and break my hip. It would take someone special to overlook the age difference even as I aged before her eyes. As to the Russian and Ukraine mail order brides they were by far the most beautiful women on my list but the cost of a mail order bride tour to the Ukraine ran almost $5,000 per trip. I figured it would take 2-3 trips (to narrow my search) and although $15,000 was much cheaper than what it cost me to get out of my last marriage it was still an amount I didn't want to spend. Then several things happened.

First, I wrote a few women from South America and realized their society did not place an emphasis on education. As a result most of these women were 20-35 years of age but had no education and no motivation to get one. I had already been married to a woman that couldn’t state who the President of the United States was (slight exaggeration) or whether the Grand Canyon was in Colorado or Arizona (not an exaggeration) and I wanted someone educated and articulate. I wanted my trophy wife for a mechanics salary. So I kept emailing mail order brides. Not a lot but maybe 4-5 from each country. My total outlay was around $50.00 which was about the cost of a low end date in the United States. I figured I was getting close to my perfect mail order bride at a remarkably low bargain basement cost. It was wonderful.But I wanted a larger selection of quality women.


As a result I decided that mail order brides from the Ukraine and Russia seemed to be what I was looking for. They were college educated, beautiful, had family values and the age difference did not bother them. I begin to read everything that I could on the mail order brides of the Ukraine and Russia. I learned that there is 1.5 million more marriage age women in the Ukraine than there are marriage age men. That in their society there is a huge emphasis on a woman marrying and being a good wife but that because of the shortage of men and the poor economy that many woman found themselves working their entire lives never having an opportunity to get married. I learned that the average mortality rate for Ukraine man is 58 while women lived well into their 70's. It was my dream country. Beautiful women seeking men and marriage. Even a ugly man like myself had a statistical chance to marry a beautiful woman in the Ukraine. It was like being a kid in a candy store. My plan was almost ready to spring into action.

I then started emailing mail order brides in both the Ukraine and Russia. Many beautiful women responded but they wouldn’t quite fit my criteria. For example I didn’t want to have any more children. I wanted a woman to be college educated because I wanted to have meaningful conversation (in the words of Judge Judy, “beauty fades but dumb is forever”) into my older years and I wanted a woman that would be willing to work. I wanted her to have her own money and not be a dependent on me but rather a lover that was interdependent. Instead I seemed to be getting a lot of women that would write back that they wanted to create a family. I certainly understood their desires but already having had my children creating more children wasn’t in my plans.

The site I had started on http://loveme.com did not, at that time, have a place where I could set up a profile. It was me pushing letters out to ladies and at $5-7 per letter I could see where searching for a lady could eventually get expensive. I switched websites. I found a site called http://anastasia.com which had a section where I could set up my own profile (including a picture) and it would display on a Russian Mail Order Bride site in the Eastern European Countries. Here is what I wrote.


“I’ m a 50 year old American man looking for a woman age 33-42 who is both beautiful and college educated. I’m particularly looking for a teacher, nurse or engineer because of the ease of these occupations to obtain work n the USA. I’m no longer able to create children but your child would be welcome”.

The other feature this site provides is the ability to add a woman to your favorites much like Yahoo Personals. When you do this it generates a short email to the woman telling her that you have added her to your favorites and would like her to take a look at your profile. The responses started pouring in. These were beautiful women with college educations wanting to meet me. They had seen my picture and despite my male balding pattern, extra 15 lbs of fat and wrinkle lines in my face still wanted to correspond for the purpose of marriage. Now I knew that most men that wrote these women would never actually go meet them and a requirement to marry a mail order bride is you have to have met them at least once in person. The days where everything can be done by mail are over. Additionally, since these women can’t get permission to travel to the USA that means you will need to visit them in the Ukraine or Russia. I was ready. I just needed to select 4-5 women who were my top candidates and narrow it from there. It was difficult.

I received over 100 responses to my profile. I had to eliminate some and soon realized that some women just respond to men’s profiles without reading and evaluating them. For example some women responded that they wanted to create a family despite my profile saying I could not create children. Those women were the first to be eliminated. Second I had women write me as young as 19 years of age. They were gorgeous but eliminated. Third, I eliminated women that had more than one child or a child that was younger than six years of age. This still left over 50 beautiful women and all had written letters that told me they could make, me, a wonderful wife. Eliminations were about to get harder.

It was almost laughable. In the USA I would put myself as a 3-4 on a scale of 1-10 and here I was having over 50 women who were all 10+ vie for my attention. How stupid could I have been wasting my time on American women.


I decided to further eliminate on the following additional basis. If a women was in her late thirties or older and did not have a college degree (that easily converted to USA employment) she was eliminated. If a woman had older teenage children they were eliminated (I didn’t want some older teenage child teasing my 10 year old son). I then had way to many women wanting a possible long term relationship so I began eliminating women that were 10 + but maybe not quite a 12. It was ridiculous insanity in that I had my pick of model looking ladies. This still left 10-15 women that I corresponded with.

Now the cost of correspondence could get ridiculously high if you correspond with 15 foreign mail order brides on a twice weekly basis so there are three answers. First, get on line and search for internet forum where there is Russian or Ukraine people talking back and forth with American’s about the Ukraine. One such site is http://Ukraine.com where I met a Software Salesman (Yuri) who helped me find a couple of Internet Café’s in these women’s home towns. These cafes would translate and set up Internet access for these women at ridiculously low prices. (I didn’t want these women to have to pay anything to correspond with me. The marriage agencies that these women go to are throughout their country and are free of charge to them. The marriage sites make their money translating letters to and from these women for the USA sites. So one woman may have her picture on 5-6 sites that the marriage agency has submitted it to. When you email a woman a portion of your payment for that email goes to the USA site, the foreign marriage agency and the agencies translator).

Second, I got on line and found a marriage agency site in the Ukraine that was willing to translate an unlimited amount of letters for me at a price of $80 USD per month flat rate.

Third and finally, I had gone onto a site of certified translators and found a Ukraine lady (which would latter become my business partner and good friend) who did translations and taught English as a living. For a very modest fee of $50 USD (particularly as opposed to the mail order marriage site fees) she would, on my behalf, translate the letters, buy and deliver flowers to the ladies and buy and send them gifts. It was costing me far less than going to dinner and a movie in the USA. I simply would select, from pictures or descriptions, the gifts or flowers she would furnish and send her payment using Western Union. She took care of the rest. The women I was writing thought I was the most incredibly romantic person. All for far less than 100 per month for the 2-3 months it took me to fiqure out who I wanted to marry.

To get women to stop writing through the mail order bride site I would write a woman 1-4 letters using the mail order marriage websites until I either had reason to eliminate her or reason to believe she was a strong contender for marriage. The mail order bride sites won’t let you send the lady your email directly nor let her give you her phone number directly (which would do you little good unless you spoke Russian) but they would allow the lady to give you her postal address. (Don’t use it on your own because letters can take four weeks to get their and the cost of a international stamp for the lady to write you back is expensive). I would then have my friend in the Ukraine use the address to get me a phone number by using Ukraine 411 (which is 5 years out-dated) or to write the lady and tell her that she was the person I had written about and she would be the intermediary going forward.

I will admit that of the 15-20 women I had eliminated down to a couple did not respond to my friend and preferred to stay with the security of the mail order bride site. I stopped writing these women.


This left me with strong contenders of 5-10 women willing to write me twice a week and they did and I did. If you are anything like me you will begin to see patterns emerge in the letters. Who writes back right away. Who wants to handle it like a business deal and who is still in love with love. I was never asked at any time by any woman for anything. I did send $35.00 to a lady as a birthday present one time (you will find that sending pictures to the Ukraine by DHL takes 8 days and cost $40.00 USD so I quickly learned sending gifts from the USA was out) and I got back an email that said it was the most expensive gift she had ever gotten in her life and had brought her to tears. She must have thanked me 5 times for that gift. A gift I thought was modest, at the time, and was embarrassed that I didn't give more on her birthday. (On my former spouses birthday I had flown her to St. Louis to see Eric Clapton - from the front row - and she complained the entire time)

I’m now married to one of these Ukraine Mail order brides. She is bright, educated, loving, caring and 30 years old. She quickly became a front runner when we were corresponding. She started every letter thanking me for writing her. Shared some of her life and would travel two hours on bus to get my letters from my translator friend. Sometimes when I wake up in the morning I have to pinch myself to make sure I’m awake. Her son and my son have become best friends. Her father were he still alive would be slightly younger than myself and her mother who is still in the Ukraine (and doesn’t want to leave) thinks I’m the most wonderful man in the world.

Anna wakes me every morning with a kiss. We date regularly and she holds my hand, hugs and kisses me like we are teenagers. We have never had an argument in the five years we have been married (already outlasting two of my prior three marriages and statistically mail order brides have a lower divorce rate than American marriages) and she is a wonderful homemaker, mother and lover.
