Dog Breed: Lhasa Poo

A Poodle hybrid is a cross between a Poodle and some other dog breed, and are also often referred to as mixed breeds or crossbreeds. While some of the crosses may have been accidental, most of the popular crosses (such as Cockapoos) are intentional. Intentional hybrids have an advantage over random crossbreeds in that the breeding dogs can health tested, and selected for desirable characteristics.

Names for hybrids

None of the following hybrids have been recognized as breeds, but many are now commonly given portmanteau names. Crossbreeds with a poodle are often given a "...poo" or "...oodle" based name, although some may not yet be in common usage. Names of some of the more popular crosses (such as "Labradoodle" and "Cockapoo" for instance) however are now listed in the Oxford English Dictionary.

The crosses are usually with the appropriately sized Poodle for the size of the second breed; for example, Cockapoos are usually Miniature Poodle
